Mountain Spring – North of Trinidad CA

I’m going to try to go through all of my stuff from last week in (somewhat) chronological order. I was able to scan and prepare 19 images the last few evenings including the one from the other day. I don’t know that i’ll get around to posting all of them but…

On thursday we pretty much hung around the house and got ready for the big thanksgiving meal. On Friday we ventured into the Redwood National Park. Jen and Deneb went off for a hike through the redwoods, Jason and I had spotted this great spring cascading down the side of the hill and stopped off to make some pictures.

If you’ve ever been in a redwood grove in the fall you know how cold it can be. Next to a spring it’s a whole lot colder than that and after getting (mostly) soaked for about an hour+ we were both pretty cold. I managed to get a bunch of different shots of the spring while only falling into the water once and the moss twice. All of my gear survived somehow, albeit a little damp.

The area under the trees was very still but it was also pretty dark. Because of that i was using relatively long exposures (try standing in a 6″ puddle of cold running water and counting slowly to 128 40 times and you’ll see what i mean about the cold) hence the ferns show a little bit of motion.. (unfortunately) 😉
