May Lake

This past weekend we got to visit the Lay Lake high sierra camp again. Like last year (somehow) we ended up being there over the final weekend of the season. Everyone who works there is about to end their season and go off and do other things – they celebrate by having even fancier than normal meals complete with bottles of beer and wine (how they get it all out there i have no idea but we weren’t arguing).

The camp is big enough for about 40 people and this year being extra special for some reason brought only 10 ‘outsiders’ and 30 YNP camp managers/executives and their families so we got to share company with all of the people responsible for making Yosemite what it is. The transportation manager and camp services manager shared a table with us, they’re the people responsible for all of the campsites and accommodations. I’m pleased to say that everyone was quite nice and seems to be working there for all of the right reasons (why else would you drive your kid 3 hours to school each way during the winter storms).

I digress… Here’s Jason at the lake Sunday morning. Even though we were only really there for a day and a half i’ve got a bunch of different things that i think are interesting. Check back frequently!
