All along the trail the water flowed down the granite slabs as it has done for thousands of years. In many places the granite is so worn by the flow of the water that it looks just like the sand on a beach as the waves retreat, the solid rock taking on the shape of the flowing water..

Surprisingly – to me at least – the river was strong, even in mid-august. All along the trail from Tuolumne to Glen Aulin the river rolls down long slabs of granite creating rapids that stretch on for hundreds of yards. This spot was just below the Glen Aulin campground.
